Yaxchilan - Lintel 15 - 600-900 CE
Carved in sandstone, this lintel depicts Lady Wak Tunn.
She is one of the wives of Bird Jaguar IV and is
engaged in a bloodletting ceremony in which the
Vision Serpent (left) appears. She holds bloodletting
paraphernalia (stingray spine, rope, and paper) in a
basket while the Vision Serpent emerges from a bowl
of bark paper strips.
