Southwestern New Mexico

Celebrating the Ancient Peoples of the World
There are numerous small, poorly documented sites in Southwestern New Mexico. Typically a few grinding holes and glyphs are found at such sites.
The pottery shown below was collected at Cañada Alamosa.
The Providence Cone site is in the lava fields east of Deming; Cañada Alamosa is northwest of Monticello at the north end of the Black Range; the Petroglyph Mine site is about two miles east of Hillsboro; Dragonfly Trail is east of Silver City (off of US-180); Pony Hills and Frying Pan Canyon are the most significant sites in this area - China Draw and McGee Canyon are nearby; a site east of Radium Springs is shown in the first two photographs below; the Tonuco Mountain site is up a beautiful desert mountain canyon; and the site at Valles Canyon - Sierra de las Uvas requires a walk down a beautiful wash.
